Security has been reaped up at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport following Tuesday morning’s terror attacks in Brussels. The airport is on heightened alert and officials said they were working with local and federal officials to keep passengers safe. The Atlanta Police Department also released a statement that there were no credible threats on the city. The statement also said: “We have been training our first line responders, our patrol officers, on advanced techniques in the event of a large scale attack and we will continue to prepare our officers for any eventuality. As always, we are working with our federal partners to address and monitor any potential threats.”

A hotel worker was found dead Tuesday morning after she was locked in a walk-in freezer at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Downtown. According to Atlanta Police, Carolyn Robinson, 61, was a kitchen worker at the hotel. Investigators said Robinson entered the freezer just after 8 p.m. on Monday night. Her family reported her missing when she didn’t return home from her shift. The coroner is investigating the cause of death and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority will investigate if the escape mechanism inside the freezer wasn’t working.

The Atlanta City Council unanimously approved the purchase of two lots for conversion to public parks during its March 21 meeting.  In the north Buckhead neighborhood, the 1.5-acre lot at 685 Loridans Drive will become part of the fast-growing Path400 network of trails and parks.  “Now we have the room for both a better trail experience as well as a complete park,” said Denise Starling, executive director of Livable Buckhead. Two miles to the south, a 1.5-acre parcel at 3148 Lenox Road will now be combined with a 2.6 acre lot the city had previously acquired. Both parks will be designed, funded, and improved through community input.
