Update: Karen Beavor decided to withdraw from the race after less than a day as a candidate.
A new candidate has made the House District 52 Republican primary a three-way race at the end of a reopened qualifying period April 7.
Karen F. Beavor of Atlanta qualified, according to the state Republican Party. She joins Graham McDonald and Deborah Silcox in the May 24 Republican primary, where the winner will replace retiring Rep. Joe Wilkinson.
Contact information and biographical information for Beavor were not immediately available. A person of the same name is president and CEO at the Atlanta-based Georgia Center for Nonprofits, which did not immediately respond to requests to confirm whether she is the candidate.
The GOP reopened the qualifying period in a surprise move on April 1, apparently in response to Wilkinson dropping out of the race.
House District 52 represents parts of Buckhead, Sandy Springs and northwest Atlanta.
