The principal of a Florida middle school has been selected to be the new principal of North Springs Charter High School, the Fulton County school system announced.

Scott Hanson will take over as a North Springs’ principal in June, the district said in an April 20 news release. He now is principal of Conway Middle School in Florida and will complete this school year there before moving to North Springs, the district said.

Hanson, who began his career as a high school social studies teacher, has 19 years of experience in educational leadership and teaching, including 15 years specifically at the high school level, the school district said. He also has taught history at the University of Central Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in social science education and a master’s degree in educational leadership, the press release said.

“Great schools are a product of the staff, students, and the community, working together for the success of our students,” Hanson said in a letter to North Springs parents and community published on the school web site. “For us as a school, success will be measured when every student walks across the stage at graduation, and is college and career ready. This is a lofty goal, but is one that we should be talking about every single day. When all three of these stakeholder groups are working together toward this common goal, the sky is the limit to how much students can achieve.

“I am proud of how my current school has rallied around this simple principle, and the results we have achieved with this focus. As your principal, this will be my guiding focus for the upcoming years, to ensure that all stakeholders are put in a position to help our students to achieve success.”
