Brookhaven District 1 Councilmember Linley Jones issues a press release today, April 26, that Embry Development has withdrawn its rezoning application to build 17 townhomes on Ashford-Dunwoody Road.
The rezoning request was expected to be considered by the Brookhaven City Countil at its regular meeting tonight. From Jones:
For those interested in the pending rezoning application of Embry Development for 3 properties on Ashford Dunwoody Road just north of Blackburn Park:
Embry Development has filed to withdraw its application, currently scheduled to be heard by Brookhaven City Council this evening at 7:00 p.m. at Brookhaven City Hall. The request for the withdrawal is “without prejudice”, meaning that Embry Development will have the right to re-file a rezoning request in the future.
Please feel free to email the Mayor and City Council (including me) regarding this or any other issue at mayorandcouncil@brookhavenga.gov.
Developers were met with strong opposition from residents at an April 19 meeting. The rezoning request is recommended by city staff but on April 6 the Planning Commission voted no to recommending approval. Three houses built in the 1970s are currently located on the property; they are now duplexes. The property backs up to Bubbling Creek and single-family neighborhoods.
