Developers for a planned mixed-use development on Dresden Drive in Brookhaven have asked their rezoning requests be postponed from June to July.

Residents in the nearby neighborhoods where the development is planned confronted the developers, Connolly Investment and Development and Fairfield Residential, at an April 25 community meeting, with many expressing concerns about the traffic the 206 apartments included in the development would bring to the area.

“The June meetings [before the Planning Commission and City Council] would have occurred too quickly for our approach to not feel rushed,” said J.R. Connolly, CEO of Connolly, in a statement. “We look forward to additional community meetings to respond to questions and engage in a positive process to make Dresden Village into the best project for the community.”

Connolly and Fairfield seek to have Brookhaven city officials rezone the slightly more than 3 acres at 1336-1370 Dresden and 2544-256 Caldwell to allow construction of the mixed-use development including apartments, retail space and a parking deck. The project, named Dresden Village, would include 20,000 square feet of retail space and and 206 apartments.
