A fiery airplane crash that killed a pilot ended an airshow at DeKalb Peachtree Airport today, May 14.

An aerobatic airplane crashed shortly before 5 p.m. before a throng of attendees at the annual “Good Neighbor Day” airshow at the county airport located on Clairmont Road on the Brookhaven-Chamblee border. Emergency workers cleared the crowd.

Officials at PDK confirmed that the pilot was killed in the crash. The pilot’s name was not released. The National Transportation Safety Board has been called to investigate, and the Federal Aviation Administration is on the scene.

  1. Obviously the pilot didn’t survive. We had a similar crash right here in Dunwoody Forest some years ago. Fuel shortage, no other damage done except to the plane and the pilot. What a horrible tragedy for all concerned.–Tom Reilly
