A public meeting about design proposals for a new city park on Windsor Parkway in Sandy Springs is slated for Aug. 1.
Windsor Meadows Park is proposed for a floodplain area at Windsor Parkway and Northland Drive on a site where three houses were destroyed in a 2009 flood of the adjacent Nancy Creek. In 2014, the Sandy Springs Conservancy and the High Point Civic Association presented the park concept, including benches, trails and new trees.

An updated city design last year drew controversy for including three parking spaces that officials said are needed for park maintenance and visitors with mobility issues. Some neighbors were concerned the plan was becoming a “destination park” rather than a neighborhood park. The Georgia Emergency Management Agency reportedly advised the city to withdraw the plan from its lengthy review process and resubmit it sometime this year.
The Aug. 1 meeting will allow for public input on the design and provide a possible timeline for the project, according to a press release. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Atonement, 4945 High Point Road.
