Work to assemble a 197-foot-tall crane at Sandy Springs’ City Springs project will close two lanes of Johnson Ferry Road next to the site for two weeks starting Sept. 16.

The closure affects the two eastbound lanes of Johnson Ferry between Roswell Road and Sandy Springs Circle.

The 550-ton hydraulic truck crane will be assembled in the roadway, according to the city. The crane will be used to help construct the roofing of the performing arts center, a large theater facility.

City Springs is a public-private redevelopment on Roswell Road between Johnson Ferry and Mount Vernon Highway that will include a new City Hall, housing, commercial space and parks, among other features.
