An Atlanta Police officer is under investigation after being accused last month of public indecency at Lenox Square Mall.
Officer Jimmy Currie is accused of exposing himself to a minor Aug. 19 in a restroom at the mall. Currie is at home with pay while the department’s Office of Professional Standards conducts an investigation, said a police spokesperson.
“The Atlanta Police Department takes these allegations very seriously. Chief [George] Turner has always prioritized officer accountability and honesty, and will continue to take decisive action when necessary to hold his employees to the highest standard,” Officer Kim Jones said in a statement.
According to a police report, the son of a mall security guard reported a man exposed himself and fondled himself in the bathroom in the food court.
Currie is assigned to Zone 4 in southwest Atlanta. He has been with the APD since 2001.
