Besides helping to decide the U.S. presidential battle between major-party contenders Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, local voters face choices in many state races and ballot questions. Some of those key local decisions include:
- Democratic incumbent Taylor Bennett and Republican challenger Meagan Hanson vying for the District 80 state House seat in Brookhaven and Sandy Springs.
- The Opportunity Schools District statewide constitutional amendment to allow state control of “failing” schools, including two in Brookhaven.
- Two proposed transportation-related sales tax boosts in Atlanta, one for MARTA and one for streets, sidewalks and trails.
- A Fulton County transportation sales tax boost that would be used in Sandy Springs to speed up nine projects and programs involving roads, sidewalks and trails.
