The Georgia Board of Regents has unanimously approved a $52.8 million plan by Georgia State University to transform Turner Field and nearby properties into football and baseball stadiums surrounded by a mixed-use development. GSU has agreed to buy The Ted for $30 million by the end of this year and will work with development company Carter to create an extension of the Downtown campus with classroom space, student housing, retail and private homes. The cost of the project is $300 million, according to a report at the AJC. GSU released new renderings of the revamped Turner Field for the Panthers football team, as well as a new baseball stadium.
