Atlanta Police have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a man at a luxury apartment complex in East Atlanta Village. According to our broadcast partner CBS 46, the suspect has been named as Jeffries Anderson.
Jonathan Alex Newton was killed on the afternoon of Oct. 31 inside his apartment at the Alexan EAV complex on Metropolitan Avenue when he interrupted a burglary in progress. Newton got into a fight with the suspect, and was fatally shot.
Anderson then fled the scene and had been on the run for nearly a month before being taken into custody. A reward $25,000 was offered for information on finding the murder suspect.
