Atlanta police are investigating two deaths at the Darlington apartments in Buckhead where the discovery of one body alerted them to the “foul odor” coming from another apartment where a second body was located.

Foul play is not suspected in either case. The apartments are located at 2025 Peachtree Road.

According to police, officers went to the apartments on a welfare check of a resident living on the 12th floor at about 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 and made entrance into the apartment with the help of maintenance personnel. The officers found the resident dead in the bedroom. Homicide units conducted an initial on-scene investigation and found no signs of foul play. The resident suffered from multiple health conditions and family members reported the person sounded “weak” during a recent phone call, according to police. The cause of death is pending an autopsy.

Then, at about noon, while investigating the death from the welfare, officers “were alerted of a foul odor” coming from another apartment on the sixth floor. Officers entered the apartment with the assistance of maintenance personnel and located the second dead resident. Homicide units responded to initiate the on-scene investigation. No signs of foul play were observed during preliminary investigation. Cause of death is pending autopsy.
