The Sandy Springs Technology and Innovation Center, a long-planned effort from the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber of Commerce to boost tech start-up businesses and attract corporations, has received approval for up to $25,000 in additional funding from the Sandy Springs Development Authority. It aims to open later this month in the Northpark Town Center complex, according to Chamber president Tom Mahaffey.
The center last year got $50,000 in start-up funds from the Development Authority. The additional funding is for furnishings and equipment and will be approved on a request-by-request basis, according to Development Authority chair Chip Collins.

You’ve just offered up less money for your Tech Center to drive business to Sandy Springs than a single member of MBUSA’s Executive Board spends on a new car with that six to seven figure annual bonus, some of which, comes from the tax break they got. I bet some of these exec’s have a wine room with vino worth more than that. Up your game dramatically.
In a world of Private/Public Partnership where are the meaningful dollars coming from the business’s already here and on a full Tax Reduction Scholarship? Big Public Companies need those who can manage Big Data and write code if they want to continue with success. They should be putting in Big Dollars to this effort by the local Club, I mean City Council, that gave them more than they should have ever gotten to abandon another city for ours.
IF these big public companies aren’t willing to help with the investment in their own future then it’s a matter of ‘shame on them’.
