Buckhead attorney Claud “Tex” McIver was found guilty of felony murder April 23 in the 2016 killing of his wife, Diane McIver, according to the AJC. Tex McIver was acquitted of a charge of malice murder, and also found guilty of aggravated assault and influencing a witness, according to the AJC. The prominent Buckhead couple were passengers in a vehicle driving though Midtown in 2016 when Tex McIver shot Diane McIver from behind with a handgun.

The Atlanta Fire Department extinguished a blaze at the Atlanta Civic Center in Downtown early Tuesday morning. According to WSB, the fire was in an underground electrical area. There was no report on how much damage was caused by the fire, but the building is likely to be demolished in the coming months to make way for a new mixed-use development.

DeKalb Avenue will lose its reversible traffic lane, get new turn signals at busy intersections and be repaved, according to a report from Decaturish. Phase one of the work – which includes removing the reversible middle lane, installing turn signals and resurfacing – has already begun and is expected to take eight months to a year. Phase two will include improvements to the streetscape and upgrades to sidewalks and crossings will follow. The announcement of the upgrades to the 4.4 mile stretch of roadway was made during a recent meeting of Renew Atlanta, the city’s infrastructure improvement program.
