Pierre Gregory Singletary, 34, was arrested Dec. 6, according to DeKalb County jail records. He is charged with murder and aggravated assault. Police said Singletary is the suspect in the double shooting that occurred at the Mille Brookhaven apartments on Barone Avenue at about 3 p.m. on Nov. 30.

Killed in the shooting was Carthel Johnson, 25, of Covington. Injured in the shooting was Roderick Francois, 34, of Jonesboro.

Francois told police he and Johnson went to an apartment in the complex to buy marijuana, according to a Brookhaven Police report. While inside the apartment, two unknown men appeared and tried to rob Francois and Johnson and opened fire on the two, Francois told police. Francois carried Johnson out of the apartment, put him in his car and then drove to a nearby Waffle House where police were called, according to the report.

Both were transported to Grady Hospital where Francois was treated for his injuries. Johnson was pronounced dead at the hospital.
