Rep. Mike Wilensky will not seek reelection to the Georgia House of Representatives.

Wilensky, who serves as the representative for House District 80, announced that he will not run for reelection in a Feb. 1 press release. Wilensky was elected in 2018 to serve as the representative for House District 79. After last year’s redistricting process, House District 79 became House District 80. The district includes parts of Dunwoody, Doraville, and Chamblee.

“In four years I accomplished many of the goals I set out to perform,” Wilensky said in the press release. “These goals included the passing of the hate crimes bill, working on the Judiciary and Regulated Industries committees and having two bills pass the House, one of which was signed into law by the governor.”

Wilensky said he has enjoyed his time in the legislature, but looks forward to spending more time with his children.

Local resident Long Tran has announced that he intends to run for the now open House District 80 seat.
