The City of Chamblee’s recently-constructed City Hall has won an American Institute of Architects (AIA) Georgia 2023 People’s Choice Award.

The modernized City Hall was named the best built building over 5,000 square feet after receiving hundreds of votes in AIA Georgia’s annual awards.

The award was presented to Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC), the architectural firm that designed the building, during a ceremony on April 15. Chamblee Mayor Brian Mock was also in-attendance.

“I’m so pleased that GMC invited me to share in this celebration,” said Mayor Brian Mock. “We had asked them to design a building reflecting our past, but with vision towards our future. They exceeded our expectations. I’m thrilled that those voting found it every bit as beautiful as we do daily.”

Chamblee’s new City Hall opened its doors in October of last year.

The building, which was designed by GMC and built by construction company Reeves Young, serves as a centerpiece for the Chamblee’s growing downtown area.

Chamblee’s City Hall is home to a number of city departments like the City Clerk, City Manager’s Office, Parks and Recreation, Community Engagement, etc. In addition, it also offers up numerous green spaces “that promote public engagement and activity”, according to the City of Chamblee.
