A boil water advisory remains in effect for part of DeKalb County, following Friday’s massive water main break.

DeKalb Watershed Management told WSB-TV that it had completed repairs to the break in Scottdale around 3 a.m. on Sunday. They advised customers to run water to clear pipes and to expect brown water from their taps for a period of time.

Areas affected by the boil advisory are bounded by Scott Boulevard on the north, Avondale Road through Old Rockbridge Road on the south, Interstate 285 on the east, and DeKalb Industrial Way on the west.

DeKalb said pallets of water have been brought to the intersection of McLendon Drive and North Avenue for customers impacted by the break.

The rupture forced City Schools of Decatur to close, while five DeKalb County Schools relocated students to other locations. The City of Decatur also closed city hall and many of its facilities due to low or no water pressure.

The water main break also compromised a Georgia Power utility pole, which means some residents in the Scottdale area were without water and power for a time.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
