The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra  has announced the new season of the Movies in Concert series with three selections sure to delight young and old alike.

The popular series features full-length films on a 40-foot screen in Symphony Hall while the ASO plays the scores live.

This fall, films include The Princess Bride, Ghostbusters and Disney’s “Frozen”, the ASO said in a news release.

The orchestra will present The Princess Bride in concert Sept. 13 and 14 featuring a screening of the complete film with the musical score performed live to the film. The concert will be led by conductor Nicholas Buc.

Directed by Rob Reiner, The Princess Bride features an all-star cast including Robin Wright, Cary Elwes, Wallace Shawn, Mandy Patinkin, Chris Sarandon, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane, Christopher Guest, Fred Savage and André the Giant.

The Princess Bride will be performed on Sept. 13 and 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Next, the symphony will present Ghostbusters in Concert, again featuring a screening of the timeless classic with the musical score performed live to the film. This year will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the film’s release. The concert will be led by conductor Thiago Tiberio.

From Schirmer Theatrical, experience Ivan Reitman’s two-time Oscar and two-time Golden Globe-nominated film, screened live as an orchestra performs Elmer Bernstein’s Grammy-nominated score and Ray Parker Jr.’s Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping theme song, “Ghostbusters”.

Ghostbusters will be performed Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7:30 p.m. 

Last but not least, the symphony presents Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen in Concert with composer Christophe Beck’s GRAMMY-nominated score performed live to the film. The concert will be led by conductor Susie Seiter.

The film and its multi-Platinum soundtrack feature eight songs written by Academy Award, Emmy, and GRAMMY-winning songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, including the Oscar and GRAMMY-winning song “Let It Go” performed by Idina Menzel.  

Frozen will be performed on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 1 at 3 p.m.
