Last month, The Galloway School and the Northside Youth Organization (NYO) celebrated the opening of a newly renovated turf field at Blackwell Stadium in Chastain Park. The ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 15 highlighted the 55-by-115-yard artificial turf field along with new seating, lighting, and the upcoming upgrade of locker rooms.

This new field provides Galloway with a dedicated home field near their Buckhead campus, a significant shift from hosting soccer matches at either their DeFoors Ferry Road fields or Franklin Gateway Park.

Following the ceremony, Galloway’s varsity girls’ soccer team clinched a 6-0 victory over Atlanta Classical Academy, with Lena McBath scoring the first goal on the new turf. The Galloway Boys Varsity Soccer team also secured a win against Atlanta Classical Academy, ending the game with a 2-1 score.
