Want to know well-kept secrets about the Perimeter area, get discounts, win prizes, and possibly see a giant inflatable goose in the process?

Perimeter Connects, the commuter and employer services program for the Perimeter district, will fulfill all those goals through a mobile app that challenges participants to go on “missions” that will reap rewards.

In late March, the Perimeter Center Improvement Districts kicked off a monthlong, community-wide walking scavenger hunt with a twist: a 20-feet-wide, and 10-feet-tall inflatable goose who may pop up along the way.

Dubbed “Perimeter Pursuit,” the walking initiative that runs through April 30 encourages residents, workers, and visitors to explore the Perimeter district on foot using the Goosechase mobile app, according to Perimeter Connects Program Director Johann Weber.

“We wanted to give folks an opportunity to get out and explore the district and learn more about Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, and Brookhaven,” Weber said. “There are some great stories this area can tell that the average resident or daytime commuter may not know.”

In addition to completing some of the 50 available missions on Goosechase, a third-party application, users can also keep their eyes peeled all month for “Peri,” a larger-than-life inflatable goose sporting a detective hat and magnifying glass that will be strategically placed throughout the district at various times during the month.

Peri’s location, according to Weber, will be revealed regularly on Perimeter ATL’s Instagram @perimeter_atl

Local businesses have also partnered to offer discounts and prizes that can only be unlocked through the app, such as complimentary treats from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and Just Love Coffee. Users who complete designated missions accumulate points that grant them entry into a grand prize drawing that includes three staycation packages in Brookhaven, Sandy Springs, or Dunwoody.

To participate, users can download the Goosechase mobile app, and once installed, enter the game code “PERIMETERPURSUIT.”

Weber said more than 261 people have downloaded the app and have participated in about 1500 missions. The goal is to have 500 participants.
