Atlanta cidery and tasting room Urban Tree Cidery will close next month after eight years on Howell Mill Road in the Berkeley Park neighborhood. The cidery closes on May 19.

Urban Tree Cidery owners Maria and Tim Resuta have chosen not to renew the lease on the space, which includes the cidery’s apple presses and fermenting plant. However, the Resutas will continue producing cider for retail and restaurant sales via a co-packer. A representative speaking on behalf of the Resutas said they do not plan to reopen the tasting room elsewhere in Atlanta.

Urban Tree Cidery opened in 2016 along a stretch of Howell Mill Road between Chattahoochee Avenue and 17th Street dominated by auto repair shops and interior design and decorating firms. Apples for the cidery are sourced from a century-old, family-owned orchard in Mountain City, Georgia, and pressed, fermented, and canned on-site at the Howell Mill Road facility. Urban Tree produces over a dozen different alcoholic ciders, including English- and Spanish-style ciders and seasonal ciders.

The tasting room has become a popular spot for weekly trivia, karaoke, bottomless Sunday brunches, and other events like drag bingo and game nights. Weekly events will continue as scheduled until the closure on May 19.
