Atlanta-based and nationally recognized residential architecture firm, Norman Davenport Askins, Architects has announced that Geoffrey Yovanovic, AIA will join the firm’s founder, Norman Askins, as partner.

Under the joint leadership, the firm will continue its 47-year legacy of promoting classical architecture and traditional design in historic preservation, restoration and new residential design.

Known as one of the country’s foremost classical architects, Askins has been the sole proprietor of his eponymous firm since its founding. While he has employed and helped launch many talented young architects, of whom 24 have now moved on to establish their own successful solo careers, Askins only recently began to think of the firm’s future and who might be right to join him as partner.

“I’m not yet ready to retire, but it’s important, and the time is right to think about a next-generation plan. Rather than just closing my doors one day, I want to ensure that I have a partner who will carry on what I’ve built over the past 47 years,” Askins said.

“Geoff is the perfect choice,” Askins continued. “He’s a very talented registered architect who was educated in classicism, and we think similarly and speak the same design language. We’re both old souls inspired by the past, yet Geoff brings a generational perspective that helps keep our work fresh and relevant. I’m thrilled for our partnership and the exciting future of our firm.”

Originally from Jacksonville, FL, Yovanovic holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami and a Master’s degree in Architectural Design and Urbanism from the University of Notre Dame. He has worked with Askins for more than eight years, leading many of the firm’s projects which have brought recognition, awards and success to the firm, including a prestigious Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) Philip Trammell Shutze Award.

“It’s an immense privilege and honor to take up the challenge of carrying on Norman’s legacy,” says Yovanovic. “He has been an incredible mentor in so many ways, and I welcome the opportunity to continue our creative collaboration, bringing timeless design to our clients and ensuring our firm’s tradition of excellence and success.”
