
The city of Sandy Springs has appointed Carter Long as its new director of Communications and Public Relations.
Long will begin work on June 10, according to a city news release.
She most recently served as president of public relations at Lou Hammond Group (LHG) Atlanta. She has more than a decade of experience in public relations and integrated communications focused on destinations, hotels, resorts, cruise lines, and lifestyle brands to the company’s Atlanta office.
Long expanded LHG’s Southern portfolio, including Athens, Cobb County, Jekyll Island, Cartersville, and Newnan-Coweta County.
She is skilled in crisis communications, having led recovery strategies for brands impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and other crises, according to the release.
Before joining LHG, she gained extensive hospitality sector knowledge at award-winning PR agencies, where she directed numerous PR and media relations programs on local and global scales, including for the City of Dunwoody. She has also served as an on-camera spokesperson for Party City and a private island resort in the Florida Keys.
The Communications and Public Relations director is responsible for managing, enhancing, and protecting the city’s reputation and brand. The Director oversees all aspects of public relations, communications, and community engagement strategies for the City of Sandy Springs.
