The Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) system has released the calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. Parents, students, and teachers can now plan their schedules accordingly.
Here is the 2024-25 school calendar as approved by the Gwinnett County Public Schools Board of Education.
First day of school
The first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year in Gwinnett County is Mon., Aug. 5, 2024. Parents should make sure their children have all the necessary school supplies and are well-rested for the first day of school.
Holidays and breaks
The school year calendar includes several holidays and breaks.
The first break is Labor Day on Mon., Sept. 2, 2024. Fall Break is Thurs., Oct. 10 – Mon., Oct. 14. School resumes on Tues., Oct. 15, 2024. The Thanksgiving break will begin on Mon., Nov. 25, 2024, and end on Fri., Nov. 29, 2024.
Winter break will start on Mon., Dec. 23, 2024, and end on Fri., Jan. 3, 2025. The second Semester begins on Mon., Jan 6, 2025.
MLK Holiday is Mon., Jan 20.
Winter Break is Thurs., Feb. 13-Mon., Feb. 17. School resumes on Tues., Feb. 18.
Spring break will begin on Mon., April 7, 2025, and end on Fri., April 11, 2025.
Finally, the last day of school will be Wed., May 21, 2025.
Digital learning days
There are four digital learning days during the school year: Fri., Sept. 20, Tues., Nov. 5, Fri., Feb. 7, and Fri., March 14.
Early release days and teacher workdays
In addition to holidays and breaks, there will be several early release days and teacher workdays throughout the school year. Early release days are days when students are dismissed early, and teacher workdays are days when teachers report to school, but students do not attend.
