Sandy Springs Police officers arrested a man on traffic violations and drug charges on May 28 after a chase that ended on Dalrymple Road at Spalding Drive.

Brian Elorm Atsu of Sandy Springs was charged with possession of narcotics, felony obstruction, fleeing and attempting to elude, expired registration, improper lane change, and reckless driving, according to Fulton County Jail records.

Sandy Springs Police Department (SSPD) Street Crimes detectives received a Flock Safety license plate reading notification out of Alpharetta that a black BMW X6 had fled after a traffic stop was attempted.

Atsu also had arrest warrants out of Forsyth and Dawson Counties for narcotics violations, according to an SSPD news release.

Detectives tracked the vehicle to the Morgan Falls Road area. They also learned that the vehicle fled from an attempted traffic stop earlier that day in Sandy Springs. After searching nearby apartment complexes, the vehicle was located in the Harbor Pointe Apartments complex at approximately 10 p.m. The driver fled when detectives attempted a traffic stop, according to the release.

A successful spike strip deployment impacted three of the vehicle’s four tires. The pursuit ended on Dalrymple Road at Spalding Drive after a successful PIT maneuver was conducted.

The suspect was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit without any further incident.
