Macy’s recently announced “Bold New Chapter” apparently doesn’t include its Northlake Mall location, which will close its doors next year.
The announcement, first reported in Tomorrow’s News Today, said the store would likely cease operations by early 2025.
Other Atlanta-area Macy’s traditional mall locations – including Lenox Square in Buckhead, North Point Mall in Alpharetta, Town Center at Cobb in Kennesaw, the Mall of Georgia in Buford, Gwinnett Place Mall in Duluth, Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody and The Mall at Stonecrest in Lithonia – appear to be safe from the chopping block.
The “Bold New Chapter” concept, announced by Macy’s in February, details a new approach to strengthening sales, including focusing more on digital sales, closing 150 underproducing stores, and expanding its small-format stores. At the time Macy’s made the announcement, the exact locations of the soon-to-be closed stores were not released.
Plans also include expanding its Bloomingdale’s and Bluemercury locations over the next three years, and modernizing and streamlining its operations.
A Bloomingdale’s is located in Lenox Square, and Bluemercury can be found at Buckhead Market Place.
In January, the corporation announced it was closing five of its namesake locations and laying off about 3.5% of its workforce.
