Contractors are initiating overnight lane closures and traffic pacing on I-285 eastbound between Riverside Drive and Roswell Road for bridge and median construction work through Oct. 12, weather permitting.
A Georgia Department of Transportation news release said motorists can expect two left lanes closed nightly in Sandy Springs on I-285 eastbound between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
These lane closures and pacing will allow for bridge and median construction work. Pacing operations will occur on that eastbound section of I-285 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
On those same dates and times, motorists should expect the closure of up to two left lanes and shoulder closure on I-285 eastbound from Riverside Drive to Roswell Road. A single, left-lane, and shoulder closure will begin at 8 p.m., with a double-lane closure starting at 10 p.m.
The time may change due to weather conditions. Intermittent traffic pacing and lane and ramp closures may also occur within the work zone. Get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app.
The work is part of the I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project to extend the auxiliary lane between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive and reconstruct the Mt. Vernon Highway bridge over I-285.
