Tucker city officials and community leaders had a groundbreaking ceremony on Oct. 25 at the city’s newest park, Tucker Town Green.

Construction is already underway, with an expected completion date of summer or fall of 2025.

“This is an exciting day in the city of Tucker,” Tucker Mayor Frank Auman said. “A year from now, or maybe less, we’ll be playing on the grass, in the shelter or at the amphitheater – all elements that are going to go into this great park.”

Auman also commended Matthew Lee of the Tucker- Northlake CID and Chip Cofer for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition.

Former city council members Anne Lerner, Pat Soltys and Matt Robbins, who were instrumental in the planning of the park, also attended the ceremony.

The council in July awarded a $5.4 million contract to Hasbun Construction LLC  to build a downtown greenspace called Tucker Town Green on a two-acre plat of land on the former Cofer storage lot on Railroad Avenue.

The award includes the base amount of $4.9 million with five additional projects – shade sails, bench swings, a climbing mound, a mogul area, and a second entrance in the northwest corner of the park, which increases the contract to $5.4 million.

The cost of the park has been funded in fiscal year 2025.
