The State Capitol, Georgia State MARTA Station, and other buildings have reopened, but work continued Thursday morning to repair a ruptured gas line in Downtown Atlanta.

The Atlanta Fire and Rescue Department said in a press release Wednesday that a high-pressure gas leak was detected after construction crews struck a main line approximately five feet underground.

While Atlanta Gas Light and the Atlanta Fire Department cleared buildings to reopen, there are still a number of street closures in the vicinity.

Street Closures:

  • Courtland at MLK
  • Decatur at Washington
  • MLK at 75/85
  • Piedmont/Trinity to Decatur Street
