The Latin American Association (LAA) will host its 36th annual Latin Fever Ball at Flourish Atlanta in Buckhead on Saturday, Nov. 9, starting at 6 p.m.

The event is LAA’s biggest fundraiser of the year to support its mission to provide resources and support to the Latino community. The event is sold out, but donations can still be made at this link.

LAA CEO Santiago Marquez said, The Latin Fever Ball is more than just a celebration— it’s a testament to the resilience, contributions, and potential of our Latino community in Georgia. As we come together for this annual event, we’re not only raising funds, we’re raising awareness of the vital role Latinos play in our state’s prosperity.”

The 2024 Latin Fever Ball chairs are the LAA’s esteemed Presenting Sponsors including Georgia Power Company and Delta Air Lines. Regional Director of the Georgia Power Company, Misty Fernandez and Tad Hutcheson, Managing Director, Community Engagement, Delta Air Lines and SVP, The Delta Air Lines Foundation.

This year, the LAA will honor Lesbia Gonzalez, a Nicaraguan asylum seeker who arrived in the United States in July 2023. Fleeing the problematic conditions in her home country, Gonzalez committed to helping families grow their food through her agricultural engineering expertise. “My goal is to teach families how to cultivate their crops so they can become self-sufficient.” she shared.

Gonzalez’s daughter participates in the LAA’s Latino Youth Leadership Academy, where she has received support to acclimate to the U.S. school system. “The LAA has been invaluable in helping us adjust to our new life,” Gonzalez said. “The support of the non-profit team has given us hope as a family and a sense of belonging.”
