A woman who shoplifted multiple pairs of underwear from a store in Perimeter Center was arrested after a short foot pursuit that ended when she was discovered hiding under a service truck.
The incident, which was included in Dunwoody City Manager Eric Linton’s monthly report at the Nov. 4 council meeting, said police arrested Angela Yvonne White, 40, of Videlia, GA on Nov. 1 and charged her with shoplifting and obstruction. Police also discovered she had a warrant in Clayton County for failure to appear on another shoplifting charge.
Police said the woman was captured on video walking into a dressing room at Von Maur with several pieces of women’s undergarments, but walked out with only one item. Loss prevention specialists confronted White, who at first was cooperative, but later fled the scene.
According to an incident report obtained by Rough Draft, officers were dispatched to the area, and found White walking away from Perimeter Mall. After police attempted to detain her, but White stated that store officials had “checked her bag.” When police tried to question her further, White ran across Perimeter Center West and into a parking lot.
She was found hiding under a truck and taken into custody without incident. The report did not indicate where the stolen merchandise was located.
DeKalb County jail records indicate that White has been arrested multiple times since 2007, charged with prostitution, probation violations, failure to appear to answer previous charges, and disturbing the peace.
