Skate City Springs opens its second season today at City Green despite the unseasonably warm temperatures.
“We had such a good response last year from the whole community that we decided we definitely wanted to bring it back. So we’ve made it a little bit better this year,” Performing Arts Center Executive Director Bill Heggett said during a media preview session on Monday.
A merchandise tent will be on-site with mittens, scarves, caps, mugs, winter safety coloring books and crayons, hand warmers, and faux fur blankets for purchase.
While the Zamboni treats the ice each hour, guests can relax by the sidelines or at the firepits, enjoying premium hot cocoa and snacks from the concession stand.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for children ages 2 to 10, which includes an hour of skating and premium skate rentals.
Skate City Springs introduced a loyalty program, where guests who purchase five skate sessions get one free. Reservations are recommended and can be made online at this link.
Times start at 6 p.m. on weekdays, 2 p.m. on Fridays and 11 a.m. on weekends. Most nights of skating end with 9 p.m. reservations. There are also group rates for parties of 10 or more.
Novice skaters can use free Skate Helpers—blue, walker-like sliding props – to provide balance and support.
