Newly elected Atlanta City Councilmember Eshé Collins took the official oath of service at city hall this morning ahead of the regularly scheduled December meeting.

Collins won the Post 3 At-Large seat during a Dec. 3 runoff against Nicole Jones. The seat has been open since March when Keisha Sean Waites stepped down to run an unsuccessful campaign for Fulton County clerk.

Collins’ initial swearing-in was a brief procedural ceremony, enabling her to start organizing her office operations and hiring staff.

She will undergo a ceremonial swearing-in before the first council meeting of 2025 on Monday, Jan. 6 at noon in the Atlanta City Hall Marvin S. Arrington, Sr Council Chambers. A reception prior to the ceremony will be held in the City Hall Atrium at 11 a.m.

Collins will serve the rest of Waites’ term and will be running for re-election in November 2025.
