Atlanta Beltline Partnership announced that it has raised $1.85 million in philanthropic contributions for Enota Park, a new Atlanta community greenspace that is in the works.
Funding for the Beltline-based park came from several organizations and contributors, including a “Friend of the Atlanta Beltline” ($750,000), Georgia Power ($500,000), Norfolk Southern ($250,000), The Fraser-Parker Foundation ($250,000) and an anonymous donor ($100,000).
“Norfolk Southern is proud to call Atlanta home and is committed to helping create thriving communities,” said Conner Poe, assistant vice president of Government Relations with Norfolk Southern. “The Atlanta Beltline is a transformative, generational project for our home city, and Enota Park represents an important investment in Atlanta’s Westside, creating opportunities for recreation, connection and neighborhood growth, and we’re proud to support the continued positive impact it will have.”
Designed through an extensive community engagement process, Atlanta Beltline Partnership said that Enota Park will serve as a “gateway between the Westside Trail and Westview.”
Once completed, the park will feature a playground, splash pad, basketball court, multi-purpose fields, walking trails and a large pavilion.
“This generous support demonstrates the strong commitment of our corporate and philanthropic partners to creating vibrant, accessible parks that serve all Atlanta residents,” said Rob Brawner, executive director of Atlanta Beltline Partnership. “Enota Park will be a vital community asset for the historic Westview neighborhood, a resource for students across the street at KIPP STRIVE, and a joyful destination for families and Beltline users.”
The latest financial contributions for Enota Park comes following previous philanthropic support from The Coca-Cola Foundation, Truist Trusteed Foundations and The Home Depot Foundation, along with public funding from the Atlanta Beltline Tax Allocation District and others.
According to Atlanta Beltline Partnership, the greenspace project is still in need of an additional $1.3 million to be fully completed.
“We’re grateful for this tremendous show of support from our funding partners,” said Brawner. “As we work to complete fundraising for Enota Park, we invite other corporate and philanthropic leaders to join us in creating this transformative public space that will serve Atlanta residents for generations to come.”
Construction for Enora Park will be handled by Atlanta Beltline, Inc., with a groundbreaking expected sometime this year.
