The Atlanta Film Festival has announced the lineup for its 2025 event.
The 49th annual Atlanta Film Festival, and its corresponding Creative Conference, will take place April 24 – May 4, held primarily at the Tara and Plaza Theatres. The festival will offer virtual screenings, according to a press release.
The movie “Color Book” will open the festival on April 24. The film is directed by Atlanta native David Fortune and follows a father and his son with Down syndrome on their journey to an Atlanta Braves game. The festival will also include a special presentation of the documentary “The Games in Black & White,” which tells the story of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.
This year’s festival will include 132 selected works, including 24 world premieres, according to the release.
“In its 49th year, the Atlanta Film Festival is not only a global celebration of storytelling with 35 countries of origin represented in selections but also a powerful showcase of Atlanta’s growing impact on the film industry,” said Festival Executive Director Christopher Escobar in the release. “It’s a thrilling time to be part of this vibrant, artistic community, and we can’t wait to welcome audiences back to the Plaza Theatre and Tara Theatre and further solidify Georgia as a hub for film and innovation.”
Other films at this year’s festival include: Amalia Ulman’s “Magic Farm,” Mahdi Fleifel’s “To a Land Unknown,” and Jennifer Tiexiera and Guy Mossman’s “Speak.” The full lineup of films can be found online.
This is the festival’s 15th year holding its Creative Conference, an educational programming series. The conference will take place from April 29 – May 2 at the Tara Theatre. The conference offers educational panels for festival-goers. The lineup has not yet been announced.
Festival badges are on sale and individual screening tickets will be available on March 26.
