The City of Tucker is celebrating the re-opening of the renovated Fitzgerald Field Sports Complex with a ceremony on Saturday, March 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in conjunction with its annual Spring Fling.

The event will include a parade and a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

“This has been a long time coming,” Tucker Mayor Frank Auman said during the city’s March 24 council meeting. “It started before COVID and got caught up in that mess, but we have huge improvements and upgrades that will bring the park up to modern standards.”

The city acquired Fitzgerald Field in 2019 by agreement with the Tucker Football League, according to information released by the city. The renovations became a multiphase project over several years resulting in new water and sewer infrastructure, concession and restroom buildings, astroturf, upgraded parking, lighting and scoreboards.

“Tucker is grateful to the TFL for entrusting us with this community gem,” Auman said. We are excited and proud of our investment in the improvements and the benefits for all that call Fitzgerald their sports home.”

Tucker’s Fitzgerald Field Sports Complex is located at 4877 Lawrenceville Highway. The Spring Fling starts at 9:30 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m.
