The Dunwoody High School Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Golf Team won the DeKalb County High School Golf Team Championship on April 3 – a repeat for the girls, and a return to the top for the boys.
In addition, four Dunwoody students placed in the top of the overall girls’ and boys’ individual champions and runners-up awards at the competition, held at the Stone Mountain Golf Club.
The teams are led by long-time DHS coach Doug Friedlander. Dunwoody will head to regional qualifiers in Cherokee County and, if they qualify, move onto the girls’ state championship on Sea Island for the girls, and the boys will compete in Jekyll Island.
The win gave the Dunwoody girls’ team its eighth county title to move into first place for the most titles, passing Lakeside High School.
According to the county’s official results, the Wildcat boys’ team was led by Reece Thompson, who shot a 79 to capture the overall title, followed by fellow classmates Jake Keleman with an 81, and Chris Hazen (82).

Dunwoody’s Elizabeth Hanlon, a freshman, shot an 87 to take the top spot, followed by another Dunwoody student-athlete, Amelia Metert, who shot a 94 to grab second place.
The Dunwoody boys’ team beat runner-up Chamblee by 14 strokes. The girls bested Druid Hills by 15 strokes.
