The Greater Perimeter Chamber (GPC) is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Woman of Distinction Award, which will honor women from Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, and the surrounding greater perimeter areas.
According to a May 15 release, the winner will be announced at the Greater Perimeter Chamber Signature Luncheon on Oct. 22. The luncheon will spotlight women whose contributions shape the region’s vitality, diversity and community spirit.
Nominees will be evaluated by a selection committee on the following criteria:
• Leadership: Influence within their organization, industry, or the broader community;
• Community Contribution: Demonstrated positive impact in the Perimeter region;
• Character: Embodiment of values such as integrity, resilience, compassion, and innovation;
• Overall Distinction: A compelling narrative that illustrates why the nominee stands out.
Nominations will take place from now until July 21, with finalists and winners notified Aug. 31.
This year’s Women of Distinction Signature Luncheon, according to the release, will include veteran broadcaster Monica Kaufman Pearson as the featured speaker.
“Monica is a celebrated trailblazer in broadcast journalism, known as the first woman and the first minority to anchor the evening news in Atlanta,” the statement said. “Her 37-year career with WSB-TV and her ongoing work as a civic leader make her a powerful voice in honoring women who lead with courage, authenticity, and impact.”
After her retirement 10 years ago, Pearson was recently lured back into the business by Gray TV to host an hour-long personality interview show, “Monica Pearson One-on-One,” on Peachtree TV (WPCH-TV).
“Having Monica Kaufman Pearson as our keynote speaker elevates the meaning of this recognition,” said Paula Shiver, Executive Vice President of the Chamber. “Her story is one of excellence, resilience, and paving the way for others—exactly the kind of legacy our Woman of Distinction honoree represents.”
