Mercedes-Benz will move up to 500 jobs to Sandy Springs as it establishes Atlanta as its North American headquarters.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced on May 22 that the company will centralize and unite key corporate functions, moving jobs int its 1MB facility in Sandy Springs. A multi-million dollar state-of-the-art research and development facility will be located near Sandy Springs. The company expects the move to be completed by August 2026, according to the news release.
“We’re excited that a job creator that already has close ties to Georgia is doubling down on that choice and growing their presence here in the best state for business and opportunity,” Kemp said in the release.
The 1MB facility in Sandy Springs opened in 2018 and supports approximately 800 jobs in Georgia. The expanded facility will house the existing sales teams, financial service teams, and corporate functions.
Mercedes-Benz North America CEO Jason Hoff thanked the state for its support.
“This strengthens our position for continued growth and reinforces our established commitment to the U.S. market,” Hoff said in the release. “Bringing our teams closer together will enable us to be more agile, increase speed to market, and ensure the best customer experience.”
Sandy Springs Mayor Rusty Paul said the city was excited to see the expansion in the city. He said the decision highlights the city’s infrastructure and capital investments, which now are paying dividends.
Assistant Director of Statewide Projects Elizabeth McLean represented the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s (GDEcD) Global Commerce team on the transaction. The state worked in partnership with the City of Sandy Springs, Select Fulton, Metro Atlanta Chamber, and Georgia Power.
