Atlanta Police are investigating the shooting of a 25-year-old woman near the Midtown MARTA Station on Sunday morning.

On May 25, at approximately 12:56 a.m., Atlanta Police Zone 5 officers responded to a report of a person shot at 41 10th St. NE,

According to the preliminary report, officers located the female victim who had sustained what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was alert, conscious, and breathing, and transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Responding officers were notified that MARTA Police had detained a possible suspect near the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a verbal dispute between known parties escalated into gunfire, and the victim may have been an unintended target.

The investigation continues.
