David Michael Flynn announced his candidacy to represent District 4 in the Sandy Springs City Council.

Flynn said he is running for city council because he believes his innovative perspective, strategic problem solving skills and consensus building experience will bring smart and viable solutions to the issues facing Sandy Springs, according to his campaign announcement. He said he is also passionate about supporting a vibrant and healthy community.

Flynn has owned a wellness business in Sandy Springs since 2004 that offers physical therapy, chiropractic services, nutrition, massage therapy and CrossFit fitness coaching. His business has served more than 2,000 city residents under his corporate brand, Dyncore Inc.

Flynn has lived in the Alderwood Community in Sandy Springs for more than 10 years, according to the announcement. His sons grew up and were educated in Sandy Springs. For that reason, Flynn said he understands the value of a supportive community with strong educational, safety and recreational standards.

According to the announcement, Flynn retired from the IT sector after serving more than 25 years in leadership roles managing the development and implementation of large software projects.

Flynn earned a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech. At Georgia Tech, he was awarded a graduate assistantship to lead the development of a student information system for a metro Atlanta school system, the announcement said.
