The next City of Sandy Springs municipal election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025. All six City Council seats and the office of Mayor will be on the ballot. Municipal elections in Sandy Springs are nonpartisan.
Mayoral Candidate Forum
WSB-TV and Rough Draft Atlanta will host a Mayoral Candidate forum on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. The forum will stream on WSB Now and Rough Draft Atlanta.
City Council Candidate Forum
Rough Draft Atlanta, publisher of the Sandy Springs Reporter, is hosting a virtual candidate forum for all City Council races on Monday, Oct. 6, from noon to 3 p.m.

Qualifying to Run
The mayor and council members serve four-year terms. To run for office, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Be a resident of Sandy Springs for at least 12 consecutive months before the election
- Reside in the district they seek to represent for at least six consecutive months before the election
- Continue to live in the city (and the district, for council candidates) throughout their term
- Be registered and qualified to vote in Sandy Springs municipal elections
Candidates must qualify in person at Sandy Springs City Hall, located at 1 Galambos Way. The qualifying period runs:
- Mon., Aug. 18 through Thurs., Aug. 21, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Fri., Aug. 22, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to noon
To qualify, candidates can either:
- File a Notice of Candidacy and pay a qualifying fee
- File a Notice of Candidacy, a qualifying petition, and a Pauper’s Affidavit if unable to pay the fee
All candidates must meet city and state qualifications to run.
Qualifying Fees
Fees are set at 3% of the previous year’s gross salary for the office:
- Mayor: $1,260 (based on a $42,000 salary)
- City Council: $780 (based on a $26,000 salary)
