Frank S. Roberts believes his more than 30 years of law enforcement experience make him uniquely equipped for the Sandy Springs City Council District 4 seat.

“My candidacy is about balance,” Roberts said in his campaign announcement. “I want to ensure that Sandy Springs continues to grow and thrive economically, while protecting the neighborhoods and residential character that have always been the heart of our city.”

Roberts will face Alex Somer and David Flynn. Incumbent Jody Reichel, who announced her campaign for mayor, will vacate the seat.

Roberts is committed to protecting the character and quality of life in the city he has called home since 2007.

Roberts’ top issue is the protection of neighborhoods, according to his announcement, focusing on keeping the city’s original vision of preventing nonresidential encroachment into residential areas. Growth must be managed responsibly to make sure development enhances the community.

Roberts served with both the City of Atlanta and City of Sandy Springs police departments.

His campaign platform focuses on:

  • protecting neighborhood integrity from overdevelopment;
  • strengthening public safety and civic services’
  • preserving the city’s small-town feel amid continued growth;
  • promoting collaboration between residents and businesses.

His community involvement includes serving as sergeant of arms at American Legion Post 140, formerly serving as vice president of the Mount Vernon Woods Community Association, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Georgia Chapter 8, and president of the Blue Knights Georgia Chapter 1.

A Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Navy, Roberts holds an Associate of Arts degree in criminal justice.

Roberts and his wife, Janice, a retired Montessori teacher, live in the Mount Vernon Woods neighborhood. He has three adult sons, and the couple are grandparents to five grandchildren.
