DeKalb County Schools includes schools in Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, Dunwoody, Tucker, and other cities, but it does not include the City Schools of Decatur.

First day of school
The first day of school for the 2025-2026 school year in DeKalb County is Mon., Aug. 4, 2025.
July 28-Aug. 1 are pre-planning days for DeKalb County Schools.
Holidays and breaks
The first break is Labor Day on Mon., Sept. 1, 2025.
A “Virtual Teachers’ Workday” is on Mon., Oct. 13, and schools are closed. Fall Break is Tues., Oct. 14– Fri., Oct. 17, 2025. School resumes on Mon., Oct. 20.
Tues., Nov. 4 is an “Independent Learner Day/Professional Development Day.”
Thanksgiving break will begin on Mon., Nov. 24, 2025, and end on Fri., Nov. 28, 2025.
Winter break will start on Mon., Dec. 22, 2025, and end on Fri., Jan 2, 2026. The first day of the second semester will start on Tues., Jan. 6.
MLK Holiday is Mon, Jan. 19, 2026.
