Nonprofit FreeRent.org will host Neighbors Helping Neighbors, its signature annual fundraiser, on Friday, Aug. 22 at The Stave Room.
The organization provides rental assistance and wraparound services, offering families a pathway to long-term financial stability.
The charity event will feature tastings from live music, an auction and food from local restaurants including, Lazy Betty, Lagarde American Eatery, Naanstop, Ibiza, Cafe Momentum, BirdCage, Buena Vida, Old Fourth Distillery, Chef Justin Robinson, Chefs C&M and Jake’s Ice Cream and more.
NBA All-Star Dominique Wilkins and his wife Jedidia are once again co-chairing the event and broadcast veteran Justin Farmer will emcee.
“All people really want is a chance to build a more secure future,” Dominique Wilkins said in a statement. “It’s about giving people a hand up and room to breathe.”
In Atlanta, nearly 47% of renting households are currently spending over 30% of their net income on rent, according to statistics from FreeRent.org.
