Dragon Con, the massive pop culture and gaming convention, returns to Atlanta this week with celebrity guests, cosplay, and more.
This year’s Dragon Con will run over Labor Day weekend, from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1. Plenty of celebrity guests are expected to be in attendance, including Captain Kirk himself, Wiliam Shatner; Katee Sackhoff from “Star Wars” and “Battlestar Galactica”; Billy Zane from “Titanic,” “The Phantom” and Twin Peaks”; actress Chloe Bennett from “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”; Marvel comics artist Joshua Cassara; actor Mike Colter from “Luke Cage”; and the legendary character actor Vincent D’Onofrio, who is known for his role as Wilson Fisk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Dragon Con guests can peruse the Walk of Fame, located in the Marquis Ballroom at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, to see some of their favorite guests up close and personal.
Dragon Con’s iconic parade will take place on Saturday, Aug. 30, starting at 10 a.m. along Peachtree Street in Downtown Atlanta. Those looking to participate in the giant cosplay parade can find applications online, along with a map of the parade route.
In terms of weekend events, other Dragon Con favorites will be back this year, including Dragon Con Burlesque: A Glamour Geek Revue from burlesque artist May Hemmer, as well as Dragon Con’s Night at the Aquarium. There will also be multiple contents to participate in, including an animation/anime costume contest, a “Star Wars” costume contest, and a masquerade costume contest.
