A woman running for Sandy Springs City Council was arrested Aug. 30 around 3:30 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to a multiple media outlets, Michelle Sullivan was pulled over just before 3:30 a.m. on Glenridge Drive after her slow-moving car was observed weaving across the road.

When they pulled the car over, officers detected the smell of alcohol and asked Sullivan to perform several field sobriety tests.

Sullivan was arrested and charged with DUI and other traffic charges, according to a police report.

Sullivan is a candidate for the District 4 Sandy Springs City Council seat currently held by Jody Reichel, who is running for mayor. Three other candidates are also vying for the seat – Dave Flynn, Steven D. Hickey, and Frank S. Roberts.

Sullivan had previously run for the post in 2021, a seat that was won by Reichel.

Rough Draft confirmed Sullivan’s arrest on the Sandy Springs’ police department website. She is not listed as a current inmate at the Fulton County Jail.
