1. Solidarity Sandy Springs provides 1M pounds of food
🥗 Solidarity Sandy Springs co-founder and board member Jennifer Barnes told the Sandy Springs City Council at its recent meeting that the organization provides more than one million pounds of food annually to food-insecure families.
Barnes said the organization uses the city’s $25,000 grant to buy fresh produce for its shoppers.
What was started as a temporary emergency food pantry that Barnes and her friend, Sonia Simon, thought would feed 10 families for two weeks has now served more than 100,000 shoppers in the past five years.

2. Brewhouse Cafe opening second location in South Downtown
🍻 A second, larger location of Little Five Points sports bar Brewhouse Cafe will open next year in South Downtown.
Situated along Broad Street, around the corner from Historic Hotel Row, the opening of the South Downtown location will come just weeks ahead of eight FIFA World Cup soccer matches taking place in June and July at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The sports bar will be a 15-minute walk to the stadium via MLK Jr. Drive.
Brewhouse Cafe opened in 1997 at the corner of Moreland and McLendon in L5P and has since become one of the city’s most popular soccer bars, especially for catching early morning matches from overseas.

3. Wellness Wednesday: Suicide prevention walk; AIDS Walk
🧠 Faith communities across the region will unite Nov. 2 for “Step Out & Speak Up,” a suicide prevention walk at Piedmont Park, supporting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s mental health initiatives. The event is part of the national Out of the Darkness Walk initiative
🗣️ Wisdom & Healing through Shamanic Journeys sessions are held on the fourth Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore in Sandy Springs.
🩺 Community health screenings with staff from Secured Health will be held on Fri., Sept. 26, and Sat., Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Northlake-Barbara Lore Library in Tucker.
🏃 The annual AIDS Walk & Music Festival is Sat., Sept. 27, starting at 9 a.m. in Piedmont Park. The fundraiser will include performances from CeeLo Green and Trombone Shorty.
🧘 Thriving Together Arts and Wellness Festival will offer a full day of programming that centers joy, movement, and wellness on Sat., Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Chastain Park.
